Clients are ‘Experts in Their Own Lives’

Hi all. I am a therapist who likes helping people to feel better in life. What is it that some therapists do not stop and figure out who’s is this client? What Skills can this client bring in the therapy room? Can this client help someone in the same situation? What make some therapists only look at what isn’t there? As a therapy I believe that our aim is to create a safe working environment, where clients know that there is a place for them to express what they are good at. Example: their experiences, knowledge and skills. As a client or therapist, what is your view on this? Please feel free to contribute or comment, this will be highly appreciated by others.
